Proposed Projects

The Kea Conservation Trust aims to direct funds into both captive and wild research projects to support conservation and best managment practice of all Kea in New Zealand.

In order to achieve this objective the Trust requires funding from individuals or organisations committed to conservation of this species and its environment.

A list of important projects is listed below.

• Solutions to kea-human conflict issues;
• Removal of lead products throughout kea habitat;
• Satellite tracking to establish detailed movements of kea;
• Education and advocacy

The Trust will look to develop, and secure funding for research into finding resolutions for human - kea conflicts.

An initial literature search on international examples is underway with specific species examples to be posted on our wild populations page.
