Thanks to Dulux New Zealand’s involvement, she says the programme will now be able to be extended to further sites throughout the country like Arthur’s Pass and Hawdon Valley. “It is collaborative efforts with organisations like DOC and Dulux New Zealand that help make the Trust’s goals achievable.” says Tamsin. Julia Myers, General Manager of Dulux New Zealand says the partnership with DOC and their pact with Kea Conservation Trust will help protect New Zealand’s outdoors, a place that the company has called home for the past 70 years and the scenery that has inspired the 900 colours of the Dulux Colours of New Zealand range. “We’re really proud to be working with DOC and Kea Conservation Trust. By supporting programmes to protect our wildlife and backcountry shelters, we believe we’re helping to ensure that our future generations can experience the unique sights and sounds of New Zealand,” says Julia. Since March this year, the Protecting Our Place partnership between DOC and Dulux New Zealand has so far seen over a dozen DOC huts given a fresh coat of paint to protect the shelters against the harsh elements of the New Zealand outback. The programme has also seen hundreds of people up and down the country – from kids to retirees, community groups to schools – volunteer to pick up a paintbrush and pitch in at their local huts.
