The two main reasons for on-going human-kea conflict are:
- Kea strike on high country sheep and;
- Property damage
The Kea Conservation Trust is working with DOC and communities to try and resolve these issues by designing programmes which aim to identify the issues and provide workable solutions. In order to do this successfully, input from individuals and communities is vital.
If you are having issues with kea, please let us know by filling out a Conflicts Form (the link which can be accessed at the bottom of this page) and send to us. Your information will help us to identify problem areas and possible solutions which can then be used by others.
We will soon also be loading a list of solutions that other people have tried and found successful at stopping kea damaging their property.
