Kea Discovery Centre

The Kea Discovery Centre will be located within the grounds of the Kiwi Park, Queenstown and set amongst mature native bush.

The facility will be made up of three parts:

  • Rehabilitation flight areas for sick and injured kea to support their release back into the wild
  • A fun and immersive education centre where visitors can learn all about our endangered kea
  • A walkthrough kea enclosure for visitors to get up close and personal with the parks resident kea

Concept Plans

In 2021/22 initial concept plans were developed with our partners Nelmac - Kumanu Environmental and Waka Group Architects.

Where to from here?

The next steps to making the Kea Discovery Centre a reality is to develop a detailed feasibility study which will enable us to promote and raise funds for the physical build.
